Our Process
We work with local landscapers and sawyers to select mature Hudson Valley hardwoods that have fallen. These include black cherry, walnut, and oak. The wood is brought to our workshop, where it undergoes our signature, hands-on milling, drying, preparation, carving, and finishing. The entire process from the moment the wood arrives in our facility until it’s shipped to you, takes place on-site. From the time you order to the time your furniture leaves our workshop will take about 12 weeks.
Our designs—inspired by Midcentury Modern and the American Craft Studio design—are rendered precisely and consistently by cutting-edge technology. Using computer-generated measurements and plans vastly expands the boundaries of what we can create, and ensures you receive the piece ideally suited to your space—and that lasts for generations. Each piece is assembled, sanded, and finished by hand, by expert artisans and designers that have reverence for the land, traditional techniques, and personal relationships with our customers. We also collaborate with other local artisans, such as tanners and upholsterers, to create the finished furniture.
Designing for You
Then we turn our focus to you—your design goals, and how you’ll use the furniture in your space. In a one-on-one consultation, we invite you to send us photos and measurements of your room and existing furnishings. Whether a single statement piece of an entire room of fully customized furniture, we’ll work you to create the perfect fit, both functionally and aesthetically.
